Advise on next-level social media after recent content shifts

Our social media approach has recently shifted, but we lack clarity on whether we're heading in the right direction. With limited time and a small team, we need focused guidance on what to prioritise next.

ADVICE   CALL

WHAT WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH

  • Diagnose our current social media approach across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
  • Recommend priority improvements based on what will drive reach and engagement
  • Advise on a realistic content strategy given a two-person team
  • Help us decide what “good” looks like for our channels going forward

OUR SPECIFIC QUESTIONS

  1. What is the first thing you would fix about our social media?
  2. What is one easy win we could implement quickly?
  3. What should we be aiming for longer term?

WHERE WE ARE TODAY

We are South Africa's largest online diabetes community, with a presence across Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn. We have 37,703 followers on Facebook, 3,405 on Instagram, and 2,168 on LinkedIn.

Last year we focused heavily on Facebook, with limited personal content and few reels. This year we have started shifting towards more varied and personal content, including reels, and want to sense-check and build on these changes.

Worth noting:
Time is a major constraint, with only two team members managing content
We cannot support a high-volume or highly complex content strategy

HOW YOUR HELP WILL IMPACT US

Clear, focused advice will help us prioritise what matters most and avoid wasting time on low-impact activity. It will strengthen how we show up for our community and build confidence in our direction.

Wins we're targeting:
  • A clear understanding of what to focus on next
  • Improved reach across our social channels
  • Greater confidence in our social media approach

THE RIGHT VOLUNTEER

  • A marketing or strategy professional with hands-on experience growing social media channels, particularly Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, in a small team environment
  • Comfortable reviewing existing content and diagnosing what is and is not working
  • Able to recommend practical, time-efficient approaches rather than resource-heavy strategies
  • Bonus: experience working with community-driven or health-focused organisations
